Working offline

Brownout on the router or weak data? PeppyPOS keeps ringing up sales on the device and sends them up by itself when you are back online.

How offline selling works

  • The status bar at the top says System Online or System Offline.
  • Offline, each sale is saved on the device and the header shows "N pending sync".
  • When the internet is back, waiting sales upload by themselves within a few seconds, oldest first, each only once.
  • Log in online at least once on each device first. A brand new device needs internet for its first login.

The 15 day rule

Each device must reach PeppyPOS at least once every 15 days to keep selling offline.

  1. Days 0 to 9 offline: everything works as normal.
  2. Days 10 to 14: a slim bar says "Connect to the internet within X days to keep selling offline."
  3. Day 15 and after: Sell takes no new sales until the device connects. A cart you started before that can still be charged.

Sales saved on the device are never lost or deleted. They upload the moment the device connects again, and selling turns back on at once. Setting the device clock back does not reset the 15 days.

What needs internet

Tabs, the cashier PIN check, unlocking the lock screen, the Sales list, refunds, voids, stock in, Suppliers, Reports, Settings changes, Staff time in and Ask Peppy?. Bill out still prints offline.

If sales are not syncing

  1. A yellow pending pill means the sales are waiting for the internet or the server. Do not re-enter them; they upload by themselves.
  2. Keep the page open with internet on, or go to Settings › Offline data and tap Sync now.
  3. A red pill ("N sale(s) not synced") means the server refused a sale, for example because its product was deleted. Tap it to see the reason, then Retry now or Download CSV.
  4. Only a red Not accepted sale is re-entered by hand, by the owner.
